What is Rei-ki ?
Louis Tsen, Kuching,Malaysia

For now
it is enough for me to understand
that Rei-ki is to forgive
and to be forgiven,
to be grateful for what we have
to just let go of oneself
and feel the sheer joy of being
a child once more,
to share joy with others
not forgetting to hug one another.
All these and more are just flavors
for the true essence of Reiki is
one and only one,
and that is agape, unconditional love.

A Dog's Woes
by Carol Case
Surrey Downs, S.A. Australia

Last November our beautiful Labrador-retriever puppy, Chloe, had an operation to be de-sexed. This operation went well, and apart from being a bit sore, Chloe was in very good spirits when she got home from the veterinary surgery.

A couple of days later a big lump formed under her cut. It was the size of a golf ball, very round and red and looked angry. Pus was starting to come from the wound.
I knew that I would need to take her back to the vet to get it cleared up, but because she had already gone through an operation, I wanted to try Rei-ki first to see if it could help her. So that night I performed Rei-ki II absently for 2 - 3 hours.

The following day the pus had gone and the redness and swelling reduced by half. So I sent Rei-ki over distance another 3-4 hours that day and the following morning. Chloe's wound had all but disappeared. It was amazing how beautifully this had healed and I was grateful that she didn't have to go back to the vet.

This is just one of many instances when I have used Rei-ki as a "first aid kit". It really works wonders.

Quick Fixes with Rei-ki
by Annette Charnock
Queanbeyan, NSW, Australia

As a new Rei-ki practitioner I already have so many stories it is hard to choose which to tell. My sister has lived in chronic pain for years due to a work injury to her right shoulder. She had relief from pain in about 10 minutes.

A massage client rang for me to go to her house as she was in agony with pain in her lower back. About five minutes after I put my hands on her back she said the pain started to ease. Not long after that I felt two distinct popping sensations under my left hand. We both spoke at once, after we had finished laughing, and now the pain had disappeared.

My mother had stuck a needle deep into a finger. Pain and throbbing had bothered her for two days. I held her hand for a couple of minutes and she said the pain was less but still throbbing. The next day she said, "I don't know what you did to my finger, but you fixed it!"

I have a fallen arch on my left foot and it has caused me a lot of pain. I am using an arch support and have applied rei-ki daily for fourteen days. It still gets uncomfortable at times but the crippling, stabbing pain is gone.

A nurse at work complained of a pain in her neck. She wasn't happy to have it touched as even pain killers were no help. Reluctantly she allowed me to place my hand there gently, although she felt I would be "wasting my time". After a pause and with surprise in her voice she reported the pain was gone.

Thank you to all the people in the Rie-ki Network, all the way up to Dr Usui and especially Keven Duff (a truly unique person). The world has to be a better place because of people like you.

Help for Bronchial Asthma
Rosina Hope, Essex, England.

For about forty years I have had bronchial asthma. After being in hospital last January '99 with pneumonia and discharged with a vicious virus, I was housebound for six months recovering. I then chose to take a Rei-ki training with Barbara McGregor in London in October. I have not looked back since.

I used to be constantly "puffed", even though on extensive daily medical treatment. Now I breathe more easily and it is no longer a rasping effort. It does not now control my life. I have more free time and am not tied to the daily medication. I am less tired and do much more physically. It is a comfort and a help to be able to heal myself at any given time.

My family and friends have all seen an enormous improvement in my health and wellbeing. I have not looked forward to the winter for obvious reasons (colds etc) but this one has been a pleasant surprise as my health is steadily being improved. Many thanks.

Rei-ki Handy on Trip to China
Alison Bartley
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

On a trip to China with 39 companions for 17 days in May, after recently completing Rei-ki I in Brisbane, I was delighted to have several opportunities to practise, including the following instances.

Doreen had a benign lump on her thyroid gland, diagnosed before her trip to China. It had caused her discomfort - she was unable to speak for more than a few words with a croaky rasp. I shared a room with Doreen and sat on the bus beside her. Whenever appropriate, I would place my hand on her in the thyroid position. After a week Doreen was delighted to be able to read aloud for up to 20 minutes without any discomfort.

Daphne complained of a sore toe and the area above the ankle was very red, swollen and inflamed. After about three hours of hands-on Rei-ki on the affected area (on four different occasions) there was a decided improvement in the amount of swelling.
