Borneo Rei-ki II Retreat
Almost booked out

Lawrence Tai, Kuching rei-ki co-ordinator, reports that more than 80 people have paid deposits from Australia, Singapore and the UK, as well as locally, which leaves only 20 places, which are filling fast.

Only authorised Rei-ki II graduates of Beth Gray, Barbara McGregor or Keven Duff within the Usui Rei-ki Network are eligible. Many participants have previously attended Rei-ki II Retreats in Bali or Tuscany and will be catching up with old friends from around the world.

Many Rei-ki co-ordinators will be present, as well as our teachers, all in the one place. We also look forward to many spontaneous performances on the farewell evening!

Recovery from pain & cramps
From Canberra, ACT, Australia
Sue Lake-Harris, Co-ordinator

Taking over the reigns as Rei-ki Coordinator in Canberra has been an interesting process. Take my first Free Lecture in the job. Lots of people attended and nearly all of them reported feeling ‘something’ when receiving Rei-ki. One person, however, was insistent: "No, I’m not feeling anything".

She seemed very disappointed, as she had a son recovering from broken bones who was in a bit of pain. She hoped Rei-ki might help, but as she couldn’t feel anything…

The next morning I received an excited call from her. A sufferer of cramps in the legs every night for years, she’d gone to bed as usual after the demonstration, fully expecting to be woken at some stage by her cramps. They never happened.

"My first full night’s sleep in I can’t remember how many years. When can I bring my son to you for treatments?"

The young man was on crutches. Both legs had been badly broken in a skiing accident, and there was nerve damage too.

I asked him not to tell me where the breaks had been, I would simply do a normal full treatment, but would spend extra time where his body seemed to need it.

Suffice to say Rei-ki pinpointed the injury sites, much to his surprise, and I was even able to treat his feet. He was astonished by that, as most of the nerve pain was in his feet. Trying to put a sock on, or have someone touch his feet, caused excruciating pain. He couldn’t believe that my hands on his feet felt "really nice".

He received regular treatments for a while and he is now off his crutches and doing well. The other happy side effect for him was that he always felt energized after a treatment, whereas most of the time since the accident he’d been terribly fatigued. Both he and his mother are thinking about doing a seminar for themselves so that they can have Rei-ki 'on tap', whenever they need it.

For the skeptics:
Golfer takes break in his stride
from Queensland, Australia: Barry Cross

Upon completion of the Rei-ki I course in Brisbane during September, I set about reiki-ing everyone in sight. The responses were normal, such as ‘Your hands are hot,’ etc, etc.

A few weeks later I was on a golfing trip. On the first day a fellow told me that he may not be able to complete the week because he had broken a bone in his foot (fifth metatarsal) about a week before. He was not ’t supposed to be walking on it. To prove his story he showed me the x-ray.

On the second day I enquired how his foot was going. His reply was "Very sore". I asked if he minded if I put my hands on his foot. His reply was that if anything helped, he would be all for it.

After about one minute, my hands ‘turned on’, much to his puzzlement. After about two minutes he started asking all sorts of questions as to what I was doing, so for the next 15 minutes I explained and reikied. He said that his foot felt very good and walked away shaking his head.

That night I Reiki’d his foot again and followed up on the third day with two more sessions of about 15 minutes each. On the fourth morning, upon enquiring about his foot, this was the reply:

" Last night was the first night in over 10 days that I didn’t take any pain killers. I didn’t have to ice my foot before I went to bed and, in fact, I woke up at 2:30am and couldn’t feel my foot. I pressed as hard as I could against the end of the bed, until I felt a bit of a twinge."

A week later the gentleman walked into the shop where I work to tell me that he had been to the doctor that day. The foot had been x-rayed and bone density analyzed also.

The doctor was very pleased with the way the foot was healing, and that the bone density was very good, and advised him to go home and continue to take it easy, not knowing that in the previous week this man had walked five fairly hilly golf courses around South East Queensland.

Breathing Easy
From South Australia, Michael Pilling

Recently, I have started offering Rei-ki treatments and my second client was a friend who had not received Rei-ki before. We had booked the session as a thank you for her making a waistcoat for me. On the day, she was too busy to attend as she was moving offices in a busy project management. I said that this was precisely when Rei-ki could most help, and she agreed to take the time.

The Rei-ki session went well. There was a lot of energy response over her spleen area. Although I kept one hand there while moving progressively over the rest of her torso, after almost two hours I had to say that we should stop for now. My friend commented that she was experiencing lots of strange sensations in her chest.

I received a call a couple of days later to say that she had not experienced exercise-induced asthma, which had been with her constantly from childhood, since the treatment. She said she now realised that the 'strange sensation' was being able to breathe normally and that all of this was a great help with the office move, given the dust and lifting involved.

My friend spent the next week relearning breathing and has not experienced a relapse since the treatment, which was over five weeks ago at the time of writing. Yet again, I am amazed and very grateful to have experienced such healing at first hand.

"Sit, Sumo, sit!"
From Adelaide South Australia
Adrienne Lohmeyer, Co-ordinator

My family was spending the weekend at a holiday house on the Murray River. On a previous trip about a month before, our seven month old Labrador, Sumo, had played happily with two young Boxers in the house next door. On this trip, however, something had changed and he persisted in rushing towards them with hackles raised, barking and growling.

We all took turns in removing him but no amount of scolding or calling seemed to make any difference. Our weekend was being ruined with the noise and worry that the dogs would fight and be injured. After a morning of this, it seemed that the only option would be to chain him. In desperation I went into one of the bedrooms to send Sumo Rei-ki II energy in the hope of calming the situation. I explained to him telepathically just how distressing and unacceptable his behaviour was, and also explained that if it continued he would be chained and not be able to play and swim. I made it clear that this was not a negotiable issue and that if he wished to avoid the consequences he should ignore the dogs next door and stay with us.

To my amazement, for the remaining day and a half of the weekend we only had to call him away three times and he obeyed immediately, in stark contrast to his previous behaviour.

Misty
From Adelaide, South Australia
Adrienne Lohmeyer, Co-ordinator

Our six year old Labrador, Misty, wandered out of our yard one evening and ran directly into the path of a car. The sound of the impact was so loud that my husband thought a car had collided with a vehicle parked in the street.

The driver of the car was very distressed and immediately drove him to the vet with Misty. As soon as I knew what had happened I began absent healing on Misty and continued this for the rest of the evening and all the next day.

When we collected her, the vet reported several pieces of perspex had penetrated between her ribs directly into the chest cavity, that she had a hæmatoma the entire length of her body which was the worst he had ever seen, but she had no broken bones.

I Rei-ki’d Misty, absently, continuously for three days and then my daughter, a Rei-ki I, and I spent as much time as possible hands-on. Misty would lie contentedly, literally for hours, and on more than one occasion we observed distinct pale hand-prints in the otherwise black bruising.

The vet was very impressed at the rate which her wounds healed and at the vigour she displayed in spite of her trauma. Misty has since recovered completely.

Radical forgiveness
a key to self-healing

From Sydney, NSW, Australia
Joseph Smith

As a fairly normal Aussie bloke with a mind that would be best described as open but wary, I approached my recent experiences with Rei-ki with some trepidation.

I had read books and talked with people on the subject and was quite impressed with the array of stories on the way Rei-ki has helped wounded animals, broken bones, serious illness and even people in the process of dying. The connection between our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being was an interesting and alluring concept. As I took the step into Rei-ki though, I was totally unprepared for what was to follow.

Prior to undertaking the Rei-ki I seminar, I attended the introductory demonstration lecture at which a Rei-ki graduate placed their hands on my shoulders and I began trembling lightly but uncontrollably. I was shaken by this and, before attending the Rei-ki I seminar, went along to an experienced Rei-ki practitioner, Victoria Resch, whom I knew and trusted very well, to explore what would happen in a confidential environment.

My reactions were profound to say the least. My hands, arms and legs shook; agonized one minute, meditative the next. All the while, I was aware but not in control of what was happening. Victoria helped me to trust the process and within a couple of treatments, I was still reacting physically but was experiencing strong ‘lights’, primarily whitish and purplish colours accompanied by the most extraordinary feeling of love and comfort. It felt like a baby being held by its mother, love that I can only describe as total.

The Rei-ki I seminar weekend I spent in absolute bliss as I was able to absorb the energy in the room and enjoy the amazing attunement process. The Rei-ki vibrations and light show were now a normal part of my bliss and I felt on an amazing high, but why? The answer is the unconditional love that flows through Rei-ki.

Some 16 years earlier I had been involved in a car accident in which a young boy died. I had spent the ensuing time having major troubles coming to terms with this, resulting in a broken marriage, drinking bouts, an assault charge, enormous guilt and shame and generally doing everything imaginable to punish myself and self-destruct. It was also a very isolating experience.

During the Rei-ki ‘light show’, two clear messages came through, not written, not spoken but nonetheless very clear. The first was that I was forgiven and deeply loved. More importantly I was allowed to forgive myself, stop the self-destruction and begin to love myself and move on.

The other message came as I literally relived my actual car accident and court case. It was clear that I was not alone at this time, had never been alone and will never be alone.

The Monday after my Rei-ki I course I was, as usual, back in the daily grind on my way to work. However I looked around, and the world appeared and felt very different. The feeling I had was the same one you have when it’s Friday afternoon and you have a wonderful weekend ahead, or the day before you go on holidays. The difference was I was feeling that way about my future life.

Happy Landings
From UK, by Fiona McDonald

A couple of years ago I was travelling by plane from London to Belfast on Boxing Day when storms swept across Ireland. We flew high above the clouds in beautiful sunshine, but when the plane started to descend we hit stormy weather.

It was as if the plane were being thrown around. Children were screaming. It was very frightening.

The pilot attempted landing but the plane was being buffeted all over the place. He aborted the landing and we suddenly shot upwards at great speed. He announced he would attempt another landing.

At that point I did a distant Rei-ki healing on the plane, as we had been taught in the Rei-ki II seminar, for I felt there was risk we might never make the landing.

After that, the plane was not thrown around again. It flew steadily on, quivering slightly, and landed safely. Everyone clapped. I thought the wind must have abated. However the storm was as bad as ever.

The wind was so strong that the pilot announced he could not manoeuvre the plane on the runway. It had to stay facing one direction, rocking with the force of the wind. The steps could not be brought to the plane as they might have caused damage to the fuselage.

Eventually the plane taxied close to the terminal, gaining protection from the buildings against the high winds, and we could disembark.

I mentioned to one of the crew that I had been doing Rei-ki to assist the landing. He said that some of the crew members do Rei-ki! I am so thankful.

Disappearing Bunnies
From: Canberra, ACT. Australia
Sue Lake-Harris

My husband (a Rei-ki I and still skeptical about the next level, "that absent stuff") and myself (Reiki II), live rurally. Like most people, I just love bunnies, but feral rabbits in large numbers eating my garden plants and scampering all over the driveway trying to play dodge-the-car are not fun.

My husband decided something must be done, as the colici virus has had no effect on the warrens in our area. He brought the approved poison and told me he was waiting for the right weather to administer it. He then jokingly suggested I use Rei-ki II to send them away.

Well, feeling sorry for any animal about to be poisoned, I thought it was worth a try. Late that night (whilst very tired I confess, and lying in bed), I sent a short telepathic message to the bunnies in Rei-ki II mode. "Please remove yourselves as soon as possible from the area near the house, or my darling husband will lay out poison for you, which is not a pleasant way to go. There’s a really nice paddock a bit further down the river where nobody will bother you."

The next day I saw only a couple of rabbits and a hare. We are now about three weeks down the track, and neither my husband nor myself have seen any rabbits at all! There used to be loads of them scampering around the house at night. What we do continue to see is the hare and its mate, that is all.
