LOOKING FOR THE SILVER LINING IN 2010 by Barbara McGregor

If 2009 was the Year of the Great Shakeup (disintegration), then naturally it follows that the universal forces of reintegration can make 2010 the year of becoming whole again.

Are we ready?

It is easy to get stuck, mourning for what seems like a loss, rather than totally letting go. It is just as easy to clear the debris and, looking ahead, prepare for what comes next, without the distractions of regret and recrimination.

There were many lessons to be learned in 2009. Free education is there for us all to apply.

Let’s make 2010 the Year of the Silver Lining so, no matter how many dark clouds might appear on the horizon, you know there will be hidden benefits shining through.

Try composing a two-column list of the most telling events in your life in 2009, with the second column the counter-effect, or hidden benefit. The harder this is to do, the more valuable the exercise will be in re-programming your response to future events and possibilities.

When we ‘look for the silver lining’ in every day life, we are embracing pragmatic optimism – or is that optimistic pragmatism?

Had to sell your car to clear your debts? The upside is more walking, more exercise = improved fitness; more planning your route and your day = better time management. Mourning the car, or the choices and circumstances that led to your old debt load, won’t make a hoot of difference, unless you accept and apply those lessons, free of blame.

When we are ‘in the zone’, at peace and looking forward to what the future holds, trusting in the universal ebb and flow of life, then serendipity manifests, coincidences occur with astounding frequency, and the Fear Factor is dispelled.

The truth is that loss of confidence is worse than loss of a car, loss of self belief is worse than the loss of a job. So rejoice in your capabilities, and in all that is presently bestowed upon you, creating a free-flowing and open state of welcome for the new that awaits.

Find the newest and shiniest silver coin or token that you can in your loose change, give it a buff and keep it as a talisman of your next ‘silver lining’ event.

And next time you are out and about, take the time to notice the skyscape; observe the clouds scudding by and see the ‘silver lining’ – it’s there for us all, courtesy of the Source of all Light.

In love and light,
